Shuttle XPC motherboard replacement?
A year ago I put together an AMD-based Shuttle XPC system for my grandfather. The system worked great then but it is now plagued with various instabilities that I have traced back to the motherboard. (For example, if you plug any USB or FireWire device into the front ports, the system spontaneously reboots after making a screeching sound in the speakers.)
I'd much rather do a repair than a replacement on the system, since it's just an e-mail and web box. My question, then, is does anybody make motherboards that fit the XPC form factor? What form factor is that even called? I'd rather not simply buy another Shuttle motherboard, since obviously they suck arse. The system is an nForce2-based XPC with a socket A processor, and I'd like to use the existing CPU and memory. If I'm forced to go Shuttle, is there anywhere that sells the motherboards individually, i.e. without the chassis? Do any of you have recommendations for a stable replacement that fits in a Shuttle XPC box? |
