Enabling Standby
I recently reformatted my HD, and it seems that standby is now disabled. I searched Google, but it was telling me to look under power options in the "hibernate" tab. I don't have one of those. When I go to the shut-down dialog, the three buttons come up, but standby is grayed out. I'm running XP Home on an ASUSTek motherboard which definitely supports standby.
Thanks. |
The standby settings have to do with the Power Schemes you are running. In XP, go to the power options properties --> power schemes tab.

Actually that didn't work either. But after I found out that windows calls standby/hibernate support ACPI, I figured out that I needed to change drivers. Problem solved, standby uh... standing.
|
Blargh. Standby grayed out again...
EDIT: and now it's back... make up your mind, foul beast! >_< |
have you checked your BIOS settings?
|
I did, and nothing seems to be in the BIOS that can enable/disable it. But things seem to have gotten better now, thanks.
