Integrated Sound
So my pc shat itself again, and I had to reinstall windows. This time, however, I didn't use the system recovery thing that HP put on there, I did a clean install off of the CD. But I don't seem to have the driver for my integrated sound chip. Now I know I'm being really vague, but what do I do? For all I know, I just need to change a setting somewhere. *puts on Noob Helmet*

This is a serious problem. I formatted a friend's computer (it was an HP) and I never did get the drivers for it. They just weren't listed on HP's site. No ethernet, sound, or USB. We had to do the Recovery discs (six discs worth of spyware and useless programs), restoring it to it's original, lag-tastic and slow state.
But to answer your question, hit http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html and do a search for the drivers you need.

If you can figure out which chipset your motherboard uses, you may be about to download sound drivers directly from the chipset maker. A util like Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.net) should be able to point you in the right direction.
