Red Hat 9 network issues...
My network connections and all are set up, but my computer is being "quarantined" from the network. This is where I get redirected. Any ideas?
Thanks |

I doubt it's because it's suseptible to viruses (in the way they're thinking). I'd call the number and see if they can explain what's wrong (without you having to bring it in there). If they've quarentined you, they should be able to figure out the reason w/ just your IP.

I'm assuming it's not because of virus' as well. I would not say its hard to get a virus for linux, but definately harder than getting one for a Windows based platform.
Are there other people that are using linux on the network that are able to get on without a problem? If so, what are their settings like? Depending on the IP headers coming from your machine, they might be redirecting because its not a Windows machine (depending). Are you sending out major broadcast messages for some reason?

you may have sshd broadcasting or ftpd or httpd broadcasting....or maybe they do a ping probe to check for a firewall...just call them up, tell them your using linux and to please let you onto the network.
