Windows Messenger Drag/Drop addy list file
Hey all....
We're beta testing the official use of Windows Messenger in our corp. We're using the SIP service. I don't know what that means, as opposed to .NET, other than we're on our own servers and network, without going outside it. (I've got a little reading to do tonight.) What I want to do is make a file that has our distribution centers as groups containing the techs and tech leads at each location. (This beta is only tech users, for now.) It'd be great to drag and drop, or import an addy list already built to have the contacts grouped as we want. However, I can't make it work yet. I manually made my groups, and then added the contacts I wanted to them. If I save the addy list, it's an HTML file that does not contain group information. I might be able to add it, but I haven't tried writing in groups yet. When anyone imports the .css file, they get the contacts, but not groups. I found the XML files that WinMess keeps in the appdata folders, but it seems to serve no local function. I went as far to delete the local XML file, which does contain group and contact info., then close WinMess. Well, WM saves that file when it closes, so it reappeared. I deleted it again. Then opened WM expecting all my contacts to be gone. Nope. That can't be the ref file, because it opened with all my contacts/groups in place. I signed out and closed WM again. This time I edited the XML to remove a couple contacts, then I reopened WM hoping those contacts would be gone. Nope, still there. So, I can't figure out why that file is there at all. I'm going to read up what I can on how this little bugger works, but if any of you have ideas to help me out, that'd be fantastic!
