Batteries and Digital Cameras
My digital camera goes through batteries much faster than I would like it to. I tried some rechargable batteries but they wouldn't charge over 50% so after about 5 pictures it was time to recharge, which means at least a four hour down time. I know that digital cameras are battery hogs so I'm sure that someone out there has had similar problems. Any good battery solutions?

mine uses 4 aa's I have tried every battery known to man...including several brands of rechargables....I have found rayovac's to be the absolute BEST in longevity.
I learned early NOT to use the screen on the back to "view" thru when taking a picture it will kill the batteries faster on mine than anything else...I use the view finder like on any normal camera.... I can usually count on many hours of "on" time with the rayovac's

My HP Camera had that problem, I think that was the chief complaint of the HP digital cameras -- I got an A/C Adaptor for downloading pictures and for doing everything but taking pictures. Don't leave the batteries in the camera when it's not in use, and like Shani says, don't use the view finder, that will suck the life out of it quickly.

My sony came with A rechargables.....the key for picking up good rechargable is look at the mAh or millamp hour rating...higher the better. It was funny my friend was trying to tell me that rechargables screw up a camera....thats just a hoax...lol

If your batteries didnt charge after 50%, it must be a charger issue. Are you mixing NIMH batteries with NICD chargers? You should buy a nice set of batteries and a good charger (NIMH, 2000+Mah) to use with digicams.
Check this site for reviews of NIMH AA batteries. http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM |

One tip I just recently learned was that you should not leave your camera plugged into your PC via the USB cable. It drains the battery very quickly, I would assume because USB polls the camera every few seconds. Just get your pics off and unplug as fast as possible.

I've got a fuji s3100 that takes 4aa batteries, and with some utra cheap dynacharge rechargables I can get about 120 pictures using the view finder and download them to my pc, then do the same cycle again (sometimes) before a charge. And when I say cheap, I mean cheap, I have three chargers as it was cheaper to get the charger with *free* batteries than buying extra batteries.
