Trying to reinstall Windows2000...
 

not a clean install, but reinstalling over the top of my current 2000 install, while keeping all my programs and whatnot... anyway, i get an error during the install saying that i have programs that have not finished installing and that i must quit the install, reboot, and then allow the program to finish its install. the problem is that there are no programs being installed. i reboot, try again, same thing. close all programs, scan and remove any viruses/spyware, kill all possible processes... same thing. not sure what else to try.

Have you tried a boot from the CD with a repair option?
