PSU with more than 4 4-pin connectors?
I am wanting to run 3 HD's and 2 cd drives.... Currently my PSU only has 4 4-pin connectors, I am wanting at least 5. I've heard a second PSU really isnt practical. Anyone know of any PSU's running more than 4 connectors?

I believe the number of connectors is usually relative to the wattage of the power supply. Higher wattage supply = more connectors. Depending on the wattage of your current supply, you'd probably want to upgrade anyway to run that many components.

You could just use a splitter if you dont want to by a new PSU and your current one has enough Watts .

My Enermax power supply (410 watt) has 11 (yes, eleven) molex connectors for IDE drives. Good stuff. Then it has the P4 connector, floppy connectors, mobo connector, all that good stuff also. Good PSU.
Check it out at newegg.com |
My thermaltake butterfly psu has 9 molex connectors and 2 sata also has the P4, the floppys and the other goodies. Its rated at 480 watt. It has 2 fans in the psu, one has adjustable controller and an output for a front panel voltage monitor.

whoa, 11 connectors...
i've never seen (in person i mean) a psu with more than 4 connectors. i have a 300w and 400w and they both have only 4 connectors. i bought splitters from www.svc.com at $.50 each. |
I have the same Enermax that Redjake mentioned except mine is 350w instead. It has 11 molex connectors and I have 3 splitters on it. Right now my PSU has over 15 molex connectors. Enermax ROX!!! It has two PSU fans on it, both of which are controllable with a speed knob.

As a matter of fact, you can't see *any* of the rails from my window. :) -Lasereth |
I have not charged the batterys of my cam in a while so here is an old shot of the inside of my system. the new vid card requires a rail so its not the same setup as it is now.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/DC400012.jpg all post and update when i'm not so lazy to put my cam on the charger. its taped off for no reason, i was going to mirror the bottom but i liked the look of the tape better (i know i'm  ) |
OMG, I need to hire one of you guys to come clean up my wires, that's amazing! My case is so cluttered with stuff I don't think it could ever look that neat.

wiring is an art :)

I'm pretty sure that Antec was releasing a power supply that came with no hardwired plugs, but a ton of modular plugs, allowing you to mix and match and only include the wires you wanted. I'm searching for a link on their website but can't find the item. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I Beleave this is what your talking about Pragma. Link at bottom!
