[SOLVED] (WinXP) Desktop tab in display control panel has disappeared. Any ideas?
As the title says... It's not there anymore. Right clicking the desktop and choosing "Properties" just takes me to the themes tab.
Anyone know how to bring this tab back? EDIT: I solved the problem. On WinXP SP2 you use regedit and change HK_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Explorer > Policies > Explorer > ClassicShell - Set to "0". Hopefully that will help others if they run intot he same problem. THank for ya'll suggestions, they pointed me into this direction. Last edited by ibis; 10-22-2004 at 05:03 PM.. |

I'm sure it's not a video card thing. It's been there forever just all of a sudden has disappeared. |

Check this out, if it is due to group policy, this will help you check to see and possibly restore it. The problem is, if it's group policy and you don't have admin privileges then you will not be able to change it anyway.

that almost sounds like you have been group policied
check your local security policy start --> run --> gpedit.msc ummm as for a guess try looking under user config admin templates desktop there are a few options there aslong as none are actually enabled , thats one thing out of the way , or at least you may use this to forcefully enable such options |
