computer help
OK lemme say first off that I am not computer illiterate... as a matter of fact I built the system I'm using but im having an odd problem that has me stumped. I'm wondering if maybe someone can help...
ok first off... system specs P4 2.66ghz 533FSB Soyo Dragon Ultra Platinum P4x400 motherboard 512mb Corsair DDR400 80gig Maxtor HD w/ 8MB buffer GeForce4 Ti4600 SB Audigy2 WinXP w/ SP1 and various other features that wouldnt relate OK what happens is when I open any prog (sometimes not all the time) is that it just freezes... not permanently... just for like 10 seconds or so... but with this system that is unacceptable... The odd thing is that while its frozen I can still minimize it and all so if I bring up my start menu and click on a different prog.. it like....... "pushes" them both along and they both pop open. I wouldn't have even bothered to post about this but it seems the problem is getting worse. I have run Nortons, scandisk, defragged, run a utility prog called Window Washer, andother one called RegEdit Gold, and all with no success at solving the problem. If someone could help I would appreciate it. If nothing is solved then I guess a reinstall is in order... ::sigh::

The Soyo P4x400 shares the Sound Card IRQ with the Video Card.
Try running it with a extra sound card and see if that resolves the problem. (Agh I just read you had an audigy 2....nevermind) Hmmm...Latest Via drivers? I'm not a big fan of Via p4 boards, so I'm trying to think of what it can be for you.

I also thought about the RAM... I have a Kingston 256mb DDR333 stick laying here.... maybe i'll try that instead... ::sigh::
