CGI script problem.
Often times, my webpages fail to load when running cgi scripts. this doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it is really annoying. I often times will have to hit refresh 15-20 times to get the page to load. It doesn't time out either...the browser isn't "working", it just stops.
Have this problem on different comps with different operating systems (Mac and PC), different browsers, Cable modems, dial-ups, T1s, T3s, networks, home, etc... I have a few other sites with the same host and have never had the problem with those. I also don't get any error logs... Can this be a host problem? If so, would it be a software issue? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions/ideas. Thanks in Advance! |

what cgi programs are you running? CGI is usually CPU intensive so it may be that your host is loading hundreds of sites on a single server. In that case, I'd switch to another hosting provider or upgrade to a dedicated or a "virtual dedicated" so you get a bigger slice of CPU time.

That was my biggest worry and what I thought was most likely the problem. I was hoping though that there was an easier software explaination.
The one that I have the most problems with is a pretty intensive message board, so sounds like it's time to find a different host. Thanks for your reply! |
