Editing an AVI

how do i go about editing scnes from an AVI file. I want to just use sections of a movie I have and then stick them in a power point. Would appreciate any kind of program that can do this, thanks.

I'd use VideoMach to edit your video if you're running a windows machine, you'll just need to import your video, define your in and out points on the video, define what you want as an output file, and then start processing. You can download the trail version at http://www.gromada.com/ which lasts for 15 days (hopefully should be enough time). I've used version 2 and liked it, now that I found version 3 is out I'm in the process of testing it, but it still looks well-engineered.

Don't pay for video editing tools!

www.virtualdub.org does the same thing but is free. Instructions are at videohelp.com or www.doom9.org

I'd have to second the vote for Virtualdub. Pretty well anything you could want to do to an avi file is best done with this program!

Yea virtualdub is l337. Just select the section you want, Direct stream copy that sucker to a new file, you're good to go. Repeat and rinse as needed. Not to mention free.
