HP printer inks VS generic inks
I have a wide format HP 9650, it cost me a pretty penny but i really need it. so far ive only used the official inks (hp 56, 57) but that is starting to get very expensive. have any of you tried using the generic ink cartriges? it seems kinda fishy to me. but the price is really entising.

I can't comment as I'm a Canon user but I've picked up this bit of advice... if you switch from OEM to 3rd party inks ensure that you flush the original ink out of the system before loading up the new ink. I've read reports of mixed inks causing clogging. Probably some chemical reaction between the two that causes a viscosity change or a precipitation of solids.

I think it depends what you're going to be printing. If you want the best quality and longest image retention you should stick to O.E.M. supplies. If its throwaway stuff use the cheapest you can find.

speaking from 19 months experience with HP tech support, the one factor with generic ink is that there is no support for them and merely mentioning you bought them enables the tech to end the call

I believe you void the warranty of your hp if you use non-hp ink. Its getting to the point that 2 ink cartridges cost more then a brand new printer that comes with 2 ink cartridges. Id stick with OEM if you can't lose your printer.
