The only thing I can think off is if the amount of data exceeds the storage capacity of the dvd+r, then it won't burn. Another reason might be the contents of the data have some sort of protection, such as some found on games, and dvds, protected wma, or wmv, or even protected acc files from itunes.

Are you sure it's actually burning and not just testing? Nero has a feature to check the CD/DVD surface before writing to make sure it will work correctly, BUT every so often when I'm burning something that feature will fuck it up for whatever reason. Try disabling it and just burning... that works for me sometimes.
Other than that, I don't know. |

Try different media. My drive doesn't like Memorex DVD+R but Fuji works fine. Nero will burn a whole Memorex disc then report errors at the verification stage or sometimes even at the end of the burn.
I have no such problems with Fuji media. Another warning sign is that with the Memorex I can hear the drive stop and start many, many times during the burn. When I use Fuji discs the drive speed is almost constant... that leads me to believe that the drive has to constantle recalibrate/focus with the Memorex media. |

I'd say that if you are having the problems that F1_fan reported, then you are using/have very crappy media. In general, if changing the media fixes your problem then you either got a bad batch of discs OR you are using some generic media that will prob die within a few months.
Note: The drive stopping/restarting could always be a system problem, but in the case f1_fan mentioned, it would be more likely a media issue. |
