I don't normally go for case modding, but the SW geek in me loves that.

the_marq 10-14-2004 06:58 AM

That's nice. I have to wonder if Case-modding is a mild form of insanity. :)

ChrisJericho 10-14-2004 12:51 PM

I'd like to see how fast THAT thing can make the Kessel run !!

don't get Lasereth started on astronomy and how that term is misused in context in the movie

kebo 10-14-2004 02:05 PM

too high on the geek scale for me

absorbentishe 10-15-2004 06:50 AM

That is pretty feakin' cool. I would love to do that.

Man, I'm still seriously considering making a mod based on Metal Gear Rex from the original Metal Gear Solid for PS.

Dane Bramage 10-15-2004 08:07 AM

I love case mods... I just wish I was that creative and motivated to pull something like that off. Too freaking cool.

Check this guy out. He is totally awsome...

That would be so freakin' cool! If you do it, you've got to post pictures.

This, in my opinion, is true modding. Addding little lights that blink is cute, but not much of a modification. It's still box-shaped and all you did was add lights, a spinner, and some really expensive paint.

To put a PC in the 'Falcon, however, stroke of genius :)

I always understood it, through reading some of the other books, that people tried to explain the misuse of the term "parsec" as meaning he did it in the shortest possible distance away from the black holes, thereby measuring the kessel run as shortest distance, rather than total time

i think anyway

Dwayne 10-15-2004 01:27 PM

The force is with that case. I want one of those!!

Yeah, that's the way it's been explained away, but that's clearly just a "best guess BS excuse." That makes no more sense than looking at a fast car and saying, "Hey that's the car that drove Route 66 in less than 12 miles. (or 200 miles or whatever)." Lucas, or whoever actually wrote that line just plain fucked it up.

...and now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

zynyxx 10-15-2004 03:01 PM

Someone should market something like that, it's just too cool.

Indeed, but the safest distance between two points is not necessarily a straight line. If safety is sacrificed for less distance traveled, it makes sense. This of course depends on whether or not the Kessel run is merely any route traveled between points A and B or a defined route between said points.

It is a sweet case, in either event.

Puh-tay-toe, puh-tah-toe

Drider_it 10-19-2004 02:42 AM

nah kessel run is actually start here.. hope you end here. go.. then use gravity wells and such generated there to push and sling shot you along.. least the books later explain it.

AngelicVampire 10-19-2004 03:00 AM

Black holes warp space right? If so then the closer you get to a black hole the "shorter" the distance travelled would be (more conical) however the more power you would need to escape from its effects...

If this is so then you could say that using a distance is feasible as the falcon does the run in under 12 parsecs (travels closer to the black holes => more power) than other vehicles... similarly saying that a microlite does route 66 in 12 miles (as the crow flies) while a car does it in 15 (as it has to follow the bends!), not a lot of sense but some.
