Bearshare- It's not working anymore.
So all the sudden, starting about two weeks ago my Bearshare won't get a connection. The light at the top right of the program that is supposed to be green is blinking red. I followed the program's link to their troubleshooting website and it's really not anything that they list. I'm not behind any firewall and all my security settings are generally low (shh!)
Any reason this could have suddenly happened? I even tried reloading the software and didn't get anywhere. Thanks for any info. -Tim

damn bearshare is still around? I haven't used it for prolly 2 years now. I use LimeWire Pro or Shareaza for any needs I have on Gnutella. Maybe go to the bearshare forums at Zeropaid.com and ask there?

Yeah I recently installed SP2, however, like I said in my original post, I'm not using the firewall. Are there other aspects that could hurt it?
Also, I just tried Bearshare again (like I do everyday) and it's working, but with yellow/green flashing lights and I think it's going to go out soon... My ISP is Time Warner... -T

Wow, I haven't used Bearshare in years. I suggest you forget about Bearshare and instead utilize Shareaza. It connects to G1, G2, EDonkey2K, and supports Torrent downloads. As far as resolving the current problem: If the SP2 firewall is indeed disabled, and there is no 3rd-Party firewall in use, perhaps the ISP is blocking traffic on the ports Bearshare needs to use. Try another client and see if it can connect to G1/G2. Good luck, keep us posted.

I'm a longtime Bearshare user and I just downloaded Shareaza to try it. And there's some window that came up when I installed it saying it can't connect to many users in you're running SP2. Anyway around this? Bearshare never had this problem even after the SP2 install.
