I have had virii that have prevented me from changing my home page, but never a manufacturer.
There must be something in the registry that overrides your preference. There are a couple of people on here that can help you with that.. All I can do is bump. :) |

What OS and which version of IE (assuming it's IE)?
|
If you are using IE, you might want to reconsider your choice (or not choice) of browser. I suggest Mozilla Firefox or Opera. IE is not a very quality browser, since it has multiple security vulnerabilities and is especially succeptible to adware and spyware attacks. If you MUST use IE, then keep antivirus software updated regularly, have a firewall (Zone Alarm of Kerio Personal Firewall), and run Adaware and Spybot S&D regularly. You are most likely infected with something that the manufacturer put there in the first place. Why they would do this, I don't know.
If you have any additional questions, you can e-mail me a heinouskyle@gmail.com. I would be happy to help. |

Okay, go to the registry editor and head to the following locations:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main and check the Default_Page_URL and Start Page info. Change the website url that's there to about:blank or whatever site you want. If you need help with using the Registry editor, drop a post in here and we can walk you through it. |
