Honestly, I thought it really sucked. No real reason, I just really didn't like it. Sorry to be so vague.

Personally, I use AresLite.
I've tried Shareaza, but didn't like it.

Grondar, what is the difference between Ares and AresLite? I haven't actually tried either, but guys on campus say its really good..
Couldn't find any music worth having on Shareaza, ever.

I also used shareaza for a while but it sucks big time when it comes to finding non commercial music. Soulseek is a great alternative music resource proggie, very basic in use and no spyware.
Installed ares lite a few moments ago and can't reaaly complain just yet, great deal of resources, nice transfer rate... Tnx for the info One question tough: in the review page (download.com) someone complains that downloads sometimes get stuck at +-80%. That the case with two of my downloads right now. Does anyone know how to fix this, or how can you recover p2p files that aren't copleted (eg in kazaa they have a .bin extension) Last edited by Kontjesman; 10-05-2004 at 03:23 AM.. |

I used to use Kazaa, and it would always be a gamble in regards to whether I would get a good version of the song or not... But with Ares/AresLite, I have yet to download an intentionally bad version of a song (beeps, stutters, etc.). The intereface is also very simple, and it supports searches for all types of files. Oops.. I just re-read your question and realized you are asking the difference between Lite and regular.. Lite is basically a more simple/watered down version of Ares. Ares has a tabbed browswer and built in meda player, while AresLite has less features, but also uses less resources. I like AresLite because it's simple, does what I want, and isn't too "clunky." More details about the differences between each can be found HERE. Take care.

Shareaza is great for torrents and I like some of the more advanced features that allow you to minutely manipulate your connection and the manner in which you connect and download. WAY better than Kazaa. I haven't tried Ares yet so I can't compare it.
