cdrw stopped recording, help :)
Hi all, i have an artec combo cdrw/dvd drive in my new computer and suddenly, it developed a slight problem
whether using nero, diskjuggler or the windows media player, the drive spits out disks when it asks for blank media. I put in a blank disk, it reads for a second, hten says it needs a blank disk and spits it back out. I've tried the disks in other computers with no problems at all... I was wondering fi anyone had any advice. I tried updating the drivers, but it is a firmware update from http://www.artecusa.com/tech-support-firmware.html which requires you to use the program flash.exe...which does not run in winxp command prompt, unfortunately. basially just crashes out of the program if you run in a dos prompt or restart hte computer in dos mode.... so, i'm up for suggestions, does anyone have any idea of what i can do for this thing. It reads just fine, no hiccups, glitches, nothin..just fine. Thanks fora ny input

are you running xp?
if so, did you by any chance tweak any services? the last time i had a problem with my cd drive was because i tweaked the ATAPI-something-or-other service (per the Black Viper XP Services Tweaks). once i restored it to it's original setting, it came back to life... 2 cents.
