Mouse freaking out?

I have a box running Debian linux (well, a HDD install of Knoppix, but its basically Debian). It was off for a couple of days, and when I booted it back up, the mouse is now freaking out. Moving incredible fast, the axies dont even seem to be normal, and Im lost. Nothing has changed. The box is plugged into a KVM, and the other machine (the one Im typing this on) is fine, so I dont think its the KVM or the mouse. Im totally confused--nothing (that I know of) has changed--I literally just booted it up and it started doing this.

Any ideas what may have cause it or what I could do to fix it?

1) reset the KVM
2) reset X11
3) check your X11 settings as they relate to the mouse.
4) the system may have a bad mouse port

might try dpkg-reconfigure on xfree86

I was thinking of, by restarting it. Depends on which version/implementation you've got, I think. I know one way to start XFree86 (which is now called something else) was startx or maybe xstart (been a while), but how to kill it in the first place, I couldn't tell you offhand. I think there's some kind of key combination.
