Is modem programming obsolete?
I've been interested lately in modem programming. More specifically, I want to be able to dial a number and send audio over a modem, and receive and react to certain tones. I know this can be done and I have a pretty good idea how but I've been looking for more specific information and I haven't been unable to find much newer than 1995. If anyone knows the names of some good books or a web site let me know, and it's ok if they are technical, I have a degree in CS and should be able to wade through most anything. Like I said, my real problem is finding something up to date.

Thanks a lot. I've found a lot of information I was looking for. I'm not too big on windows programming but the TAPI API led me to JTAPI and then on to sourceforge's XTAPI implementation. I think there is some good stuff there. Hopefully I'll be able to find enough time to actually do this.
Thanks again. |
