Computer randomly reboots while downloading torrent

Okay, here's the specs, don't laugh:

Celeron 533 with 200(ish) MB of RAM, 7GB HD, and onboard video. no clue what the mobo is, it was a hand-me-down. My OS is win2k, I run sygate personal firewall, and i have the router (Linksys BEFSR41) set to allow my computer DMZ access (no router interference with incoming/outgoing traffic). I just updated and ran scans by Norton Antivirus, Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy, all came up clean. I run torrents via Azureus, latest update. While those are running, I typically will have trillian, mIRC, and possibly Firefox open, but it has done it when those programs were not open.

I'm currently trying to download a large torrent (330ish MB), and my computer is randomly rebooting. It dosen't give any error messages, the screen simly goes blank and the computer starts up again. Anyone have this experience or know about it? Anything I might be able to do to prevent this? I've tried throttling my uploads down from unlimited to 10KBps to reduce the amount of data moving through the machine, but that hasn't prevented it from happening. I've downloaded larger torrents before with no issues, this one is just being a butt. should i just give up hope on this torrent, or is there something i might try to prevent the reboots?

Your help is appreciated, wiseacres and smart-ass comments aren't.

possibly try installing another torrent program, though i couldn't imagine why a torrent downloading program would make your system reboot. maybe also try downloading a different torrent by itself, just to make sure.

it is possible too that something on your computer may be failing and it's just now making itself noticable and seems like it has something to do with the current torrent you're downloading.

You are running a lot of programs for that poor puter, id check your fans while your digging, make sure theres not a lot of dust buildup cluttering causing you to overheat. thorough chkdsk wouldnt hurt either.

heh. i just removed half a ton of dust a coupla weeks ago, the result of a year's service with no open box. i've ended up reformatting the whole machine, once i get azureus back up we'll see if it does it again.

We had a couple of machines at work that were reboot, and the shop that does our repairs said the power supply was starting to go, and therefore the computer was not getting full power, and therefore rebooting.

This was without doing much on the machines at all...

I recommend BitComet 0.70. Don't go any higher than that for BC, it isn't worth it as they removed features. I never had problems with BC like some of the other programs mentioned here.

Actually, what could be happening is the fact you may have "automatically restart" Checked. Which means if you are going a BSOD, you'll actually never see it because windows will restart without showing the message.

To make should its not checked,

Right click on my computer, go to properties, then to the advanced tab, click settings under "startup and recovery" and make sure that option is not checked.

Woah, I didn't realize how old this old...sorry.

Run Memtest (memtest.org) and let it pass at least three times.
