iTunes and external HD
i just purchased a 160GB firewire 400 HD (LaCie Porsche Design) to use primarily to store music files.
what is the best way to make my default iTunes music folder on this new HD? i am having trouble with iTunes locating the folder since iTunes is on my OSX HD, and i want my music stored on the FW HD. thanks a bunch!

I'm not in front of my Mac right now, but it is pretty easy. I think it is right under Preferences. If you also select the options of "keep my music folder organized" and something similar to that, it should copy all the songs to the new library location for you.

I'm assuming your on a Mac (or that the preferences are cross platform).
Under Preferences, click the "Advanced" icon and you'll see "iTunes Music folder location", click the "Change" button and choose a new folder. I've never moved my entire library like that so I don't know if iTunes will copy everything to the new folder for you or if you'll need to do it. Should be a piece of cake either way. |
