Router connection problem

My friend just replaced his netgear with a new netgear. We both connect wirelessly, and when we join a server to play a game, only one of us can get in. We've done this on Halo and CS:CZ. The router seems to think we are one PC, and so only lets one of us connect to a certain IP at a time. Also, when one connects and the other later gets dropped (after retrying the connection numerous times), it causes the person who was connected to get dropped also. The router just cuts off contact to the ip, dropping us both. What the hell's going on?

It's the Netgear MR814v2 router. Two XP Pro comps with tried and true wireless cards.

Here's my two cents:

Believe me there are certainly others who are more qualified to answer this, but....

You both can connect to other sites at the same time? Can you jump into the router and see both PCs connected? My router, which isn't much, lets me see who's connected when I log into it and I can see the MAC addresses along with the assigned IP of every connected computer. I'm not familiar with Netgear, but I'll bet there is something like this on it.

If there's no problem then I direct you here

I've never had any problems myself, but it seems that NAT and online gaming sometimes don't get along.

I'm sure you'll figure it out, but I hope this puts you in the right direction.

More than likely it is the NAT translation the router is doing. Try disabling DHCP in the router and manually assign static IP addresses. Then try both connecting at the same time and try pinging each address.
