Personal Web Server

With Windows 98 there used to be a personal web server you could install. Does anyone know if this exists as a separate download. Reason: I have Windows XP Home and I am doing some web development for work but I can't test the pages. Or.. does anyone have a different windows solution. (I don't want to have to run Apache or anything like that because I don't have the time to rewrite code to run on a different web server.)
Thanx

I thought that was part of Front Page?

The personal web server was released as part of the "Option Pack" for NT4. I'm not sure you can get it any other way.

Maybe this link will help:
http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nt...Pk/default.asp

I found this by googling Windows NT Option Pack

Maybe you could say what language you are programming in - might make it easier for someone else to suggest a newer web server...

Unless you have a Windows 2000 Pro/Server CD, you're shit-out-of-luck.

How would you have to rewrite code to work on a different webserver? If it's html, then you shouldn't have a problem. The only issue I could see is if you're coding in ASP, which in that case you should rewrite it in PHP, because ASP just blows.

Also, just install the IIS on your windows xp installation (assuming you're using xp pro). With XP Pro, IIS can be installed through the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel.

I tried what mrFlux had, It almost worked on my XP Home, but I couldn't get the IIS Admin service to start correctly at bootup.. it would just hang up the system. Since the app was in ASP, and I was running out of time i just punted and since I was using an access db anyway I created some forms in Access. It'll work for now. Thanks for all your input.

I would suggest using Apache 2, more secure than IIS and easier to set up...supports PHP coding, and has a lot more configurability than MS shit, and its what most major servers are running.
