IMNET.EXE??
When my computer starts up it tells me that it is unable to start imnet.exe the program because there has been a error. It's location is in windows\appatch\imnet.exe
I have no idea what this program is. I cannot find this program mentioned hardly anywhere on that there internet. Have I been jacked? Also while I am on it, I am running Win98 (the most recent) and I am unable to get through a scandisk because it keeps restarting the scandisk. Is there a way to fix this? I have tried to stop all processes first and it still does not work. Any insight will be rewarded 10 fold. Just not by me because I am fairly stupid. It seems to belong to some sort of online trading application.
For the defrag problem, check this (near the bottom): "Computer Hangs Running ScanDisk with McAfee VirusScan 5.1 Installed" http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/troub-29.shtml

I have never done any online trading which is troubling.
As for Scandisk, I have 3 drives, c d and e. D and E are data drives prretty much an c is my oldest 6 G drive that runs all the programs. Scandisk till get to 5 bars and restart over and over again for the C drive but it will can and fix the errors on the drives D and E, which is odd to me. I am running norton as well rather then McAfee |

Do a search for that file in registry and delete whatever references there are to it.
Run all of the standard spyware removers, listed here as well.

Since you are running Win 98. Hit the F8 function key as soon as you see "Starting Windows 98" and you will get the boot menu. Boot to a MS-Dos Prompt Only then from the dos prompt type scandisk /all /autofix. This should allow scandisk to run completely through.
