AAARGH HELP PLEASE
OK heres the background on my issue. I am an Everquest player,no, I dont ask for your pity or an intervention, I am an addict and perfectly ok with that. my problem is this, since the last major patch about the end of july I havre had connection issues. I started out slowly lagging and then a scattered LD. well it has generally worked its way up to me logging in spending 15 secs in game and then my data transfer rate goes all to hell. I have done the following per Sony online and Verizon DSL and nothing has helped so far.
complete reformate of HD download new drivers for video Motherboard and sound deleted norton from system no router no firewall dsl modem is hooked directly into ethernet card brand new ethernet card run the following programs daily 1. hijak this 2. spybot S&D 3. adaware 6.0 4. AVG anti virus 5. housecall antivirus 6. TDS-3 I ping traced everything and according to SOE and verizon all is good, yet the issue continues to occur, the latest nibblet of knowledge came from a verizon tech support person l;ast nite who told me I can make sure you can browse the web but cannot help you with your issue it is beyond me,yet when I asked to speak with this persons supervisor I was told that I had a virus and thats what was causing my problems.....gee they can diagnose that without ever running a test, man they're good.....(sarcasm off) ok this all boils down to a machine I have upgraded and used for almost 4 years and never had one iota of a problem, it has the next to best of everything in it and worked like a champ until 30 days ago....in their defense the sony tech I have spoken to has been more then helpful and even tried a couple of tricks that they cannot legally admit are available to them (denyability is a wonderful thing) and we still get nothing working the way it should. for those of you that have played EQ or know someone that does play I dont need to explain the withdrawl I am going through yet I am about out of hair from pulling it out. If anyone has ANY suggestion splease let me know I am about desperate enough to try an exorcism at this point. thanks Nermal |

When asking for help... We need as much information as possible to offer our best assistance. We need to know what is wrong with what, and as much general information about your system and anything you may have done to it recently (new hardware, applications, cat spilled coffee on the keyboard, etc...) OS: What version, have you patched it? Processor: Intel, AMD, Mhz, overclocked? Motherboard: what type... RAM: how much and what type. PC100, PC133, PC2100, PC2700, how many sticks. HD: size, type, partitioned Media: floppy, Zip, CDROM, CDR, DVD, etc... Browser: IE, Mozilla, Opera, what version <-- VERY important for web problems. |
