Win98 Will not connect to the internet over p2p network
Hi,
I have a problem with a Windows 98 laptop that I am trying to get on the network, It will not access the internet. Firstly, I will give you some of the specifications for the network. Main computer is running ICS, two network cards with network bridge enabled on 192.168.0.1, this is connected to a hub, which my computer and the laptop are connected to. All the computers are on the same workgroup which is mshome ( At this moment I am checking if the disrepancy(sp?) in the workgroup mshome/mshome.net could cause the problem). None of the IP addresses are conflicting and everything is correct as far as I can see. The problem is that while all the other computers can see the laptop and access it's files, internet explorer will work. There is also some strange syntax in the address bar on return of the "no server present" error, which is; http://www.google.com -> enter -> http:///%20www.google.com I believe that %20 is just a space, but have no idea what its doing there. Thanks |

The %20 in the address bar is usually a sign of a spyware/adware infection, or possibly a virus
Free Online Virus Scan http://housecall.trendmicro.com Quite possibly the best Adware/Spyware removal tool http://www.lavasoftusa.com |
