Best CD Label Making program?

Hiya everyone.

Recently, I've been using Roxio's CD Label making software, and while it suffices, it is very limiting to the point where I have to make 2 seperate save files; one for the CD and another for the label.

Are any of you familiar with a better and more functional CD Label Making program?

I don't really have complaints with Roxio, but I'm just curious if there is anything better out there.

Thanks!

One thing you may want to consider is that some people have found that applying labels to CD-Rs negatively affects their longevity. I dont have any personal experience to back this up, but it is something that has been thrown around and something you may want to consider.

CD Box Labeler Pro is fairly good, I've used it more than a few times.

I recommend a printer that will print directly on the cd, this is fairly common with newer models.

I have some CDs which just have black print directly on the CD itself. I would like to reproduce this on clear labels which I could put on my duplicate CDs. I am able to scan in the original CDs, but cannot get rid of the background color/gray from the silver-colored disc itself.

Is there any way with Photoshop or other software that I could "extract" just the printing (letters, logos, etc.) from the scan, so that when I printed it to a clear label it will look approximately like the original?

I prefer to take copies to work or in my car, so if I lose them my original is still safe at home. I am not looking for an OCD on this, something easier if possible.

Suggestions?

I have Avery's AfterBurner system at home. I think it is one of the best out there for two reasons. 1. It uses "full face" labels and only has a whole in the very middle for the disc to sit on a spindle. and 2. The applicator smooths from the inside out, which pretty much eliminates bubbles in the label (I've never had one bubble)

I use Nero's Cd label maker which has never failed for me. It just requires a little getting used to because it is not very user friendly. After that, it's all systems go

A friend loaned me his Memorex label system and blank label forms, they work pretty well and I am happy with the label application device.

Just that one pesky issue I am trying to solve.

Thanks for your input.

I'm a fan of Nero Ultra 6.0, it's relatively easy (after a small learning curve) yet still very powerful
