Im looking into getting my gf a small mp3 player for when she works out. Anywho, ive been looking around but I cant seem to find a set of reviews comparing different models and whatnot. Can someone point me where I can find some reviews or give me some personal opinions? I know RIO makes some nice cheap small ones as does Nike, but im torn.

Seems like I missed the Reseller Ratings review list. Looks like the RIO Cali Sport 128 is the way to go (Cheap, Durable and has the arm band). Can anyone vouch for this product?

I like my Rio S50 128Mb and I just put in a 512Mb SD card into it so I can hold about 10 albums on it easily.

I inherited this one from my wife who moved onto an iPod, but I love this because it's smaller and takes a regular AA battery.

I have the Rio S30 64MB version with a 128MB card in it and it holds around 50 songs. Its a great MP3 player and has not given me any problems since I've had it. I highly recommend it. The Rios S35 is the 128MB version with one expansion slot. Happy shopping.

I also like the fact that even though they have abandoned the version that I have, they have continued to upgrade the software of the MP3 player making it more functional and usable.

I have the Compaq iPaq PA-2 player. It came with a 64MB MMC card but I later bought a 256MB one. The player's small, light and compact and easy to use with just the basic functions. It uses batteries though, so if you listen to a lot of music you have to buy new batteries quite often.

Now I've switched into using my new Nokia mobile phone for listening to music, so I don't have to carry two devices with me all the time, just one.

I've got an RCA Lyra. It came with 128mb, and I added a 128 card and doubled capacity. It holds about 80 songs, give or take. It's small, has an arm band, and take a lickin', not purposely though. I'm happy with it right now.

I have the same one -- it was inexpensive, it doesn't eat batteries the way other things I have had do.. All I do is plug in the USB cable, and it becomes a device on my computer, and I just drag the songs I want onto it.

Mine gets beat on quite frequently, and hasn't broken yet. I've never used the arm band, but I use the neck strap all the time.

I second the Lyra. I have a 1080 from when they first came out. 128 MG onboard with an SD slot. It accepts most cards and doubles and a USB storage device. Batteries last about 4 hours depending on volume levels. It has support for MP3, MP3 Pro, WMA and a couple others, Ogg I think. I have had it for three years and have never had any trouble with it. It is flash upgradable as well. You can get them now for about $40 after rebate thingy. I paid $140 when I got it new.

I just got the Rio Cali 128MB. It's cool because you can expand the memory with a memory card. A lot of other MP3 playes do not have that capability, like the Nike one. Perfect for working out. It comes with an armband and a carrying case w/clip. Got mine on Ebay for $70.

I like to go bare-bones, so I got an Creative Nomad MuVo. Very small and featureless, but hey, it plays mp3s. Since that's all I need, it's prefect for me. It's small, but it's still big enough for about a CD's worth of mp3 files. It's about the size of a cigarette lighter, so you can just stick it in a pocket, string the headphones around your head and go anywhere with it. Plus, since it's just a jumpdrive/flashdrive, you can transport any files you might need right along with your songs.

If its for working our, bare bones is all you need. I have an older Lyra, its great. Just hit play and get on w/ my workout. I also have an iPod for times when I really want to 'listen' to music.
