iTunes alternative for iPod
I bought a new 4g ipod (20 gigger) recently and have been very pleased with my purchase. My only real complaint is iTunes. I didn't like having to use it and have been looking for a good alternative for it, and I think I found it!
ml_ipod - It's a Winamp plug-in that has full playlist support, allows you to copy songs to/from your ipod, and many more features. I haven't played with it for very long, but from what I've seen so far, this will be my replacement for iTunes. I hope this will help free some of you who are not happy with iTunes! -k1ng

format while I have mine sorted in genre\artist\album\mp3 and dont want to change as my collection is shared between various computers and various OS' that don't all support iTunes so this layout greatly speeds up my searching for music And what is with iTunes still using id3 v2.2 as default! It has been long replaced by v2.3 and v2.4 |

I use the Jukebox with the free plug-in from apple. Its not great, but iTunes stinks and I have neve been able to "bond" with the way it works. I think I will look around at some of the other programs listed. Thanks for the leads.

The jukebox thing came with my iPod, and I immediately got rid of it and installed Ephpod. Havent looked back. I may give that plugin a shot though, it looks pretty nice...

I love the WinAmp plugin because it allows me to queue songs very easily. If I could enqueue in iTunes, though, I'd probably stick with that. Transferring songs from the iPod is a nice bonus, though. You can do this with other third-party apps, but I've been using WinAmp for years, and it's free (unlike most of the iTunes competitors).

i've been using itunes for a while now, but ever since my new soundcard decided that it didn't want to take itunes to the prom anymore, i've been using the winamp plugin... i miss itunes though.
i wish my soundcard and itunes would just kiss and make up.
