Recently, whenever I visit some websites, the internet explorer window will close randomly. This includes attempting to sign in at certain places, including at yahoo.com

I am currently running windows xp pro.

Sorta sounds like the Blaster Worm. It shuts down IE frequently (as well as other applications). I'd go to www.microsoft.com and check out the Blaster Worm patch.
