Hotel high speed access

I don't know if this is taboo or not, but I'm posting it anyway...

I'm going on a company trip in a week or so and the hotel I'm staying at has high speed access but you have to use a password to get on. Anybody know of a generic way around those setups?

I think you'll find asking for ways to defraud companies is indeed taboo.

Why not

a) Stay at a hotel where high-speed internet access is free?
or
b) Actually pay for a service you would be using?
or
c) Get your company to pay/reimburse you for use?

I stayed at a residence Inn recently, and it also required a password, meaning:

You open your browser and a window auto pops up, it auto detects your room # and asks you to give a password... simple as that... free of charge.

Where's the fun in that?

I figure if people can get passwords to porn sites, by using lines like these:

Then what the hell, I'll ask.

Flyguy has a good point.

Stayed in Sheraton last night and paid $10 for high speed access. Was a rip off to charge that much, although it was blazingly fast. Many of the no charge services are slow as molasses. Some have wi-fi for free. Probably cheaper to install that than to hard wire every room. Sooner or later, I predict free high speed access will be the norm.

One doesn't hack into porn sites on company time, company paid trips, with the sites having records of your real name, address and employer.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't like to undertake "illegal" hacking on company time or business.

Hack away on your free time mate, but don't endanger your job!

I've only stayed at one hotel that had free wireless access (and used it). It was pretty fast. Though to save money, the hotel only kept it on half of the day...and of course they picked the time of day when nobody is even there. It was only opperational between like, 5 AM and 5 PM...which is the opposite of which most people are there.

Yeah, yeah, I know about the "on company time" bit. I wasn't even talking about porn sites, just wanted to get some studying done casue I have midterms coming up. (Distance learning) And I also didn't want to pay $10 per day for a week. What a crock of shit to charge that much! Oh, well.

Holiday Inn Express is rolling out free wireless Internet. I've used it before, it works great. I got about 200k/sec downloads, not too shabby.

The US Airways lounge in the Philadelphia airport wanted me to pay $30 for access for a day. I might have paid $10 (I was desperate), but $30? Fuck that, I could get a month of broadband for that.

I was stayiing at a Marriot Courtside over the July 4th weekend, and they offer free high speed internet every room. Both wireless and wired were free as long as you were in your room. But if you tried to use the RJ-45 ports in the lobby they charged money for that. It was a good experience overall.

Dude, get the company to pay for it. I had to stay in a Sheraton once and paid like $10/day for access. Submitted the bill to travel and got fully reimbursed. Just say you needed to use the connection for business purposes... like, checking your email or filling out your timesheet.
