Yahoo! Mail and Firefox

Ok, I think I'm about to bang my head against the wall because I don't know if this problem is affecting only me.

I use Mozilla Firefox 0.9.2 with Adblock, StumbleUpon, WebDeveloper, Open Bookmarks, Download StatusBar, User Agent Switcher, Download Sort, TBE, AIO Gestures (all the latest versions as of this post).

I have a Yahoo! Mail account that I have had for years. I use the web client with JavaScript enabled to write my e-mail. Now that I have started to use Firefox, I have noticed that the Send button does not operate at all when using the Compose screen.

If I switch back to the old version (by not enabling JavaScript and logging in), the entire website works (albeit without the additional functionality of the JavaScript enabled web version).

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Do you know how to get around it with Firefox?

Probably TBE is causing the trouble; I know it screws up some javascript-type links. Give a try to Tabbrowser Preferences (my choice), Single Window, or Window-Q, and see if the problem goes away.

None of these three extensions do everything that TBE does; if this works for you, let me know what features you have lost, and I'll let you know what other extensions might work. (It might be Monday by the time I get back to the thread).

I have noticed something about Yahoo Mail and Firefox myself..

When I use IE I am able to use "advanced features" like Bold, Italics, etc.

I also am able to copy and past news storys (with pics and bolded text) into the "Compose" window, and it shows up identical to the original story.

When using Firefox, the Yahoo Mail interface is very basic (no bold, italics, smileys, etc.), and I also am not able to paste any "special" text into the compose window.

IE, the new stories I post in are plain text, with no bold, pictures, or anything "fancy."

Would this problem be related to trache's or is it something else entirely?

Thanks!

Removing TBE seemed to have solved my problem (for the time being?); I have since replaced it with TPE. Mind you I had to hose my Mozilla FireFox directory in my Documents and Settings since my extensions were all screwed up in the last place (seems as though I had a few extensions that were installed and uninstalled but not actually removed from the extensions listing).

It seems as though FireFox still needs some work in that area.

What I would like though is an extension that would save my tab sessions correctly. Of all of the extensions, none of them seem to save their internal list of tabs upon the creation of new tabs etc. When my FireFox crashes and I restart it, it seems to start up with a collection of "old" tabs I had about 20-30 minutes prior. Grr.

Wtf?

Pet Peeve: When browsing my extensions listing, the extension buttons don't work correct (Options, Homepage, etc) unless you hilight the one you want to work with (just pressing the button next to the extension in question does not suffice).

Why did they have to code their own extension window when a listbox control would have done the job?

*shrugs*

SessionSaver might fill the TBE hole for you:

I don't use that feature, so I don't know.

Pet Peeve: this has been fixed in the nightlies. The Preview Release for 1.0 should be out in a week or two.

Yahoo is using ActiveX-based controls to get the extended formatting features. I haven't found a way to get around that in Firefox.
