Google bar
Basics (adds a new tab button to the tab bar) I have no idea why i'm using this one. I've never used it. :|
Single Window (opens all links in new tabs)

portwineboy 07-29-2004 06:08 PM

Now that I have the Google bar, is there a way to get rid of the default Google window next to the address window in Firesheep? (i love firesomething)

gal 07-30-2004 03:21 AM

All-in-one gestures (my favourite)
Dictionary search
Googlebar
Paste and Go
User agent switcher
Focus last selected tab
Single Window
Download statusbar
Session saver
Plain text links
IEview

As someone mentioned, the download manager needs improvement. I wish the developers could steal some ideas from GetRight.

Fallon 07-30-2004 04:52 AM

All-in-one gestures
Dictionary Search
StumbleUpon
UndoTab
Gmail Notifier
Gmail composer
DCOM

I wish that there were other good download managers for Linux but I've yet to find one that is really good. If there were, I'd probably use the ext for the external download manager.

Just Customize and drag the search bar off. Though you can add a lot more search engines in there, besides google, so you may not want to get rid of it.

Go to View > Toolbars > Customize, and then when that window is open, drag the Google search bar from your toolbar to the "customizable additions" window.

That should move it from your Toolbar to the "Customize" folder with the other images, dividers, etc.

Take care.

Is there a way to disable extensions without uninstalling them?

For instance, I am not sure if I want to use the Google Toolbar yet, but it's nice to have in case I decide to enable it..

Can this be done?

Thanks.

Go to the extension manager, right-click on the extension name, and choose 'disable'. I don't know if it happens immediately, or if you have to restart Firefox for that to take effect.

Neat, thanks!

I noticed that if I go to "View" and click "Google Toolbar" at the bottom of the menu, it disappears.

It is still running in the background through, right?

Furthermore, is there any point to having it run in the background instead of just disabling it? Or is it just a waste of resources if I am not "viewing" it.

EDIT: Another question.. Do I have to tweak settings or re-download media programs to watch movies online? I just went to Team XBox to watch some clips of the Ninja Gaiden download, and instead of a movie, I got the "Click here to get the Plugin" message. It's a windows media file, and I already have that installed.. What's up?

Thanks again.

I've been having a lot of fun finding unsubmitted sites from my bookmark collection. So far only 4, but it was cool to be able to share them out to people with similar interests.

Also, how do you get QuickNote to save entries in reply boxes, like here?
Edit: I got this confused with Scribe.

Sorry to get off topic, I plan to add my current list here soon (i.e. that's what the edit button's for ;)).
Edit: They're a comin'. :D

Thanks.

Is there anything that allows AVIs, MPEGs, WMVs, and ASFs to be played within the browser, a la Internet Explorer.

DonnieBoy 08-07-2004 09:05 PM

Man, i have no idea what you guys are talking about... what the heck is FireFox? guess i'll have to google it.

Does anyone know why firefox has a hard time with cold fusion pages?

For example: I admin a discussion forum for students using Fusetalk. When I login to the admin section- I can't actually click on anything that generates a change. I can look at anything just not change anything?

Any suggestions for an extension that would allow Firefox to work better with cold fusion (I also have problems with a cold fusion online text editor.)

Ummmm... isn't Cold Fusion server side? I would guess that this is less to do with Cold Fusion than the specific application you're using.

If there is an answer, it would be in the thread is there an extension like BBCode.. - MozillaZine Forums. I haven't read past the first page.

portwineboy 08-10-2004 07:11 PM

My Gmail Notifier Login extension doesn't work anymore. I get "failed to log in. please verify username and password"

Obviously I did that. I'm guessing that Gmail is blocking this extension but I was wondering if there was anyone else having this problem?

Aerundel 08-10-2004 07:15 PM

I just wanted to say that if anybody's using Tabbrowser Extensions and hasn't updated to 0.9.3 yet, don't. Wait until that extension updates, I know I am. All my other extensions work fine though.

DownloadWith
DownloadStatusBar
Download Manager Tweak
Extension Manager Tweak
ieview
Paste and Go
SmoothWheel
MozFBRH
Add Bookmark Here
DictionarySearch
VerifyURL
All-in-One Gestures (may work in 0.9.3)
Tabbrowser Extensions (does not work in 0.9.3)

Thank you again. I found the Mozilla boards now too. :)

I just downloaded FoxyTunes 0.5 and really like it. It adds media playback control from within Firefox.

thriolith 08-26-2004 10:48 AM

ieview
CuteMenus
Sort Bookmarks
Download Statusbar
FoxAmp
FLST
Duplicate Tab
Basics
BlankLast
Down Them All
Open Download
Allow Right Click
Tabbrowser Preferences
Single Window

Looks like I'll be adding to this list once I check out some of the other ones mentioned.

Those do the same thing, in slightly different ways. They may cause interference with each other. You should probably pick one and stick with it (I'm a TBP user).

Thanks, I removed Single Window.
Switched FoxAmp for FoxyTunes also.

SwitchProxy
Adblock
CuteMenus

Scipio 08-26-2004 08:23 PM

All-in-One Gestures (110% essential)
Nuke Anything

I suppose that's all I really need. Everything else is gravy.

thriolith 09-03-2004 05:57 PM

Anyone else using Firefox wanna tell us what extensions you're using?

heyal256 09-03-2004 06:08 PM

I've recently found have have been trying out weatherfox http://weatherfox.mozdev.org/
basically weather bug without the spyware, but integrated into the browser.
Also using popup alt attribute http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/_popupalt.html.en
just to see the alt tags on the non-compliant websites.

I may have found the greatest firefox extension ever! well i like it!.. hehe
its called spoofx. http://spoofx.shitforbrains.org/ its a built in spoofer for firefox. i tried the ie version called spooph but it was too cumbersome and never worked for me.

all the questions you will likely have will be answered on the webpage. there are tutorials http://spoofx.shitforbrains.org/help/tutorials/0.2/

you are going to have to download spooph for the albums http://www.shitforbrains.org/spooph/ that you will have to import into spoofx

have fun!

silver26 10-14-2004 04:29 AM

connyosis 10-14-2004 12:07 PM

Don't run TBP and Single Window at the same time, they do the same thing, and might cause interference problems with each other. The nightly builds of Firefox also have some built-in single window mode stuff in the Advanced options, and it works pretty well. There's a new TBP that is designed to work with those most recent builds.

After reading this thread I decided to try and install firefox. It seems pretty cool! Thanks for all the great information! Anyways, I have a small problem. I figured out how to set it to open 4 webpages that I view most often in seperate tabs when I open the program. I also figured out how to put in some bookmarks in the menu bar of other web pages that I view often. Now what I want it to do is to open the bookmarks I click in *new* tabs, not just overwrite the tab that I happen to have open at the time. How can I do this? I installed a bunch of the extensions that you guys have listed here and still can't figure it out. Thanks a bunch!

Do you have a scroll mouse? If so, middle-click on the link or icon or folder, and it will appear in new tabs.
Oh, and also, enter
about:config
into the URL bar, then in the filter type
tabs
and set the preference browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace to false. That way, when you open an entire folder into new tabs, they'll show up at the end instead of replacing current tabs (I don't know why this isn't the default).

Oh there's also browser.tabs.opentabfor.bookmarks, you could set that to true.

I tried both of these and they don't seem to do anything. When I click on a bookmark, it still opens in the tab that I have currently opened instead of creating a new tab, like I want it to do. Thanks for the help though! That about/config thing sure looks complicated!

Redlemon 10-15-2004 10:03 AM

Missy, do you have a scroll-mouse? If not, on Windows you can hold down the Ctrl key, and on the Mac, the Apple key, while left-clicking. It is way better with a scroll mouse.

And yeah, about:config is a messy area. But you can do the coolest stuff back there.

SiN 10-16-2004 02:02 PM

Is there an extension like ctrl+j in Opera - it opens a popup with all links on a page, then you can easily copy the ones you want to clipboard for processing with a d/l program.

I just have a Dell Laptop. And It would be cool if i could just click on it and get it to open in a new Tab, but I guess I can handle right clicking and selecting new tab. Silly computers!
