i have the 2.4b and have had no problems with it at all
you need to make sure that your mobo will be compatible with it tho

Right now the best DDR ram you could match with the processor is about 400 Mhz.
Therefor, you would notice no difference in speed between the two.

You do have the option of going with RAMBUS, which will run at the FSB speed of the processor.
However, it is more expensive and you need a mobo with a chipset that supports it.

Personally, I'd go with the less expensive processor.

uh no. The speed of the ram on the p4 A runs at 100mhz quad pumped to 400. ddr 2100 is all you need. the p4 533 has ddr ram running at 133 speeds, quad pumped and runs at 533.

Oops, your right. The ddr400 is for the 800Mhz P4.

I'm in the process of building my own right now and all these
numbers are making my head hurt.

acualy you will notice a difernece the faster the FSB the faster the computer, the 2.4b will have about 15% better performance (depending on what your doing with it)

Tom's Hardware did a whole article on the difference between a TBred A and a TBred B. Start on This page and read through.

http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/2003...2_to_june_2002

The only real difference it shows is the B has one more layer, and is capable of running a core clock speed of 166Mhz, vs. the A's 133. This equates to the difference between using DDR 2100 and DDR 2700.

the 100mhz bus give you more available overhead if you want to oc. i know people are hitting 3Ghz with 2Ghz celerons ($100, smaller cache though) on the 133bus. inexpensive performance.

I swear one of these days I'm seriously going to have to start reading these things before I respond to them.

Ignore my previous post, I fully admit to all of the dumbassedness required to misread the topic that badly.

On a lighter note though, Tom's may indeed have some information about those two processors.
