WineX
I hate Windows, but LOVE video games. There is a program called WineX which is the linux version of DirectX enabling me to play games on Linux. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it? I want to know if its good.

I used winex for regular apps when the normal WINE was being a PITA but I always just installed games natively in Linux. Back then you only had like 10-12 to choose but that's gotten better from a couple years ago. It ran windows apps better than real WINE so I can recommend it in that respect.

I have not used it personally, but everything I've heard about WineX has been EXCELLENT. Transgaming renamed WineX to Cedega with the most recent release, and it's supposed to be better than ever. The Slashdot article concerning the 4.0 release of Cedega can be seen here.

Didn't I just see this EXACT same thread in Tilted Computers?

I used WineX to play Warcraft 3, Alice and HL. While it's not 100% of what you would get from a Windoze machine some games play great. Most problems have to do with menus, Alt-tabbing and sound. Pay for the subcription, it's well worth the $5 ( I think ) a month for the added support and latest builds.
