Which filesharing software?
Being an avid computer fan, I feel pretty lame making a post like this. However I pretty much quit filesharing after Napster went under. I tried out Morpheus and Kazaa for a bit, but I simply hate that I get about an average 30% success rate after getting past random download errors.
Which filesharing software (for music mainly) has the largest selection and is the most succesful these days? I still use Kazaa here and there, however my AdAware messes with it so I have to reinstall it evertime I run Adaware... I hope this isn't an 'illegal' thread, I apologize to the mods if so. Thanks guys -T

-Ever-, I know we've only talked a couple times before, those being on T3 - Yeah, I've got a vivid memory especially on how you backed me up on T3 being a flop and it ruined the series. But, ( ) let's get to the matter at hand. Shall we?

Also I don't remember Mozilla being a file sharing utility... But, man, where the hell have you been during the reign of Kazaa Lite?!? *Though, sadly, you haven't heard? The REAL Kazaa cracked down on them after they became too popular and ordered they stop. So there are no more revisions, except by the dedicated (obsessed) few. Hell no! Not me man. * Oh! That's right. Selling out to Kazaa Media Desktop and taking the easy way out [rather than searching around a bit for a more for the people FS utility.] Well, so you thought... Then you realized what mess you got yourself into when you saw all the ads and spy/adware bundled in the software. Brilliant Digital, Cydoor, etc. I'm just teasing man. Just go to oldversion.com and ONLY download anything Kazaa Lite related from there. Other places have a nasty version floating around with malicious viruses, trojans and so on, so I've heard. So, with that I say to you: DOWNLOAD ON! You know, everything: music, Kazaa Lite, movies, whatever...

http://emule-project.net is the king of P2P as far as I'm concerned. Yeah it's slow and has some connect issues with routers, but 99% of the time you get real and hi quality public domain documentaries and freeware.

Thanks guys, I'll look into Kazaa Light. I think I had KMD for a while.
Yes Oldtimer, I remember you too. And yes, T3 still sucks! So what else? Bittorrent looks a little bit complicated at the moment. Do I have to stick with Kazaa Media Desktop or Morpheus still? I hope not. -T PS: Oldversion doesn't have Kazaa Light available "for legal reasons". Damn

Subject: T3 Sucks Hey buddy So help me get back on track here! How big is the Kazaa Lite file? And why is it so much better than KMD? Thanks, take care -Tim

ircspy.com + MIRC + Invision 2.0 scripts
OR EMule + shareprovider.com (sharereactor and filenexus links combined in the format of the sharereactor site, VERY, VERY fast compared to the old sharereactor site) OR Bittorrent + Suprnova.org These would be my suggestions if you were going to do the file-sharing thing. If you are feeling tech-smart, start at the top of the list. If you are feeling tech-dumb, start at the bottom.

If anybody wants the old K-Lite version I can email it to them, or otherwise you could use Bearshare.
Bearshare is a wonderful program, however, it does install spyware on your computer. After you install the program, run Adaware and Spybot and all the stuff will be gone. Do not worry, it does not install them back. I have had Bearshare for a while and nothing has come back. 100% perfect music downloads with none of the RIAA schreeching tracks at all. Damn nice program.

For music:
For easier-to-find stuff (recent releases, and/or more popular stuff) IRC is the way to go. For harder to find stuff, I've been using SoulSeek a lot lately. Disadvantages are - que's can be long, and sometimes the server is down. But if you're patient, and can just leave it running for a long time, it can be very good.

e-mule is good, but slow for some of the lesser known stuff. One benifit, if you have e-mule, do a search for Kazaa Lite, you'll find it. Since the K++ project was halted, there haven't been any upgrades AFAIK, but you can still get the latest version via e-mule.
Funny, that.

suprnova sucks ass in comparison to some of the torrent forums out there. suprnova=too many leechers, not enough seeders, and you don't always get what you're expecting.

I like Bearshare and Bittorrent. I keep trying to like Kazaa, but it just sucks too much now. I barely connect to any files, and they download really slow (almost emule speed ).
On Bearshare you will probably get 95% real music (not corrupted) where kazaa is more like 50% now. |

E-Mule slow but very little fakes. I have been using this for a few years and never have any problems with it. You can get some links from:

I use soulseek the most, but depending on my connection, I also use KliteK++
KCeasy, and whatever else I feel like at the moment. for music, I'd reccomend Soulseek VERY highly. SiN: where on IRC do you go to find stuff? I'd use it, if I knew enough to find what I needed.

I use Bearshare atm . but wouldn't mind using something else or better. Don't like how people rename files to make them something else or have a better search.

Open source and merges Gnutella, Gnutella2, & EDonkey networks! It's awesome as hell. ...or http://www.easynews.com $10 a month for 10 gigs of downloading. Contains TONS of newsgroups. If you use their NNTP protocol, it'll cost ya 25% less in downloads.. so you download 10 gigs, it'll only count for 7.5. There's also a utility you can run from grid.org that's very similar to SETI, easynews has a team on there. If you join their team, you get 1 free gig for every 15 days of CPU time. I put it on all my computers (8 total) and have a few VM ware clients running it, I get about 1 free gig per day.
