Monitor Issues
Well, I've had my monitor for a while now and recently it keeps resizing my screen.
Is my monitor just going out on me? or is this a problem that I can fix? edit: sorry if this has been asked before, I tried a search and nothing came up. Thanks |
Anyone?

Let me help..
When it resizes, does it stay that way? does it get bigger or does it get smaller? does it change in dispay properties, or on the monitor only? does it resize the entire screen, or does it shift it? Fonts blurry? Colors off? Buzzing hum sound when it resizes? Edited thrise /i hate school keyboards |
My 19 inch CTX brand CRT when first turned on the horizontal is way narrow. After a few minutes it clicks back in to being fine. But 1152 X 864 is as high as I can without the screen being too wide. It's been this way for like two years. Kind of annoying. I think it's some kind of relay prob. Yours might be similar.

It sometimes goes bigger, sometimes smaller.
It seems to stay at the incorrect size. Changes only on the monitor, display properties remain the same. no blurry fonts, no color problems, no buzzing sound. Hope that clears it up a bit, sorry for being vague |
have you attempted the percussive repair maintanence...
thats the first thing i try with pretty much all my electronic devices... |
What resolution are you running at? sounds kinda like you may be running either a to high resolution or the monitor may be bad.. of course it could also be the video card.. might you have another Pc or a different monitor to troubleshoot it further?

make sure your monitor is running at a refresh rate it can handle
|
ok, it was running at 1280X1024 but i knocked to down one notch and it seems to be doing better. I don't have another PC to test it with at the moment, but I am getting a new vid card this week, so I should be able to do some testing then.
Thanks for all the help |
*edit double posted*

if it is an older video card, it may not be able to handle the refresh rates of newer monitors, which seems to be the case if it does not happen at lower resolutions, with a new vid card, you ought to be able to hit the higher resolutions without a problem
