I feel sort of silly asking this, but...
I have an FTP issue. I can't log out.
The reason I need to logout is because to access two different parts of the FTP, I need two different usernames/passwords. But I can only get to the one I logged into first, because I can't get that name off. I've deleted my cookies, I've erased my history, cleared my temporary files... all the things that I THOUGHT stored passwords. Apparently I was wrong. So somewhere in Windows, I'm guessing, this password is stored. I just can't find it. Any help? I'm running XP Home and using IE to connect to the FTP. |

call up a cmd window, type in ftp (hostname) and away you go
if you want to go clickky clickky instead of typey typey, I usually plug WS FTP which is a free download from tucows or wherever. Anything else you use will do a better job handling FTP than a web browser. Some packages (including the command line one) are also scriptable so you can automate the activity. |

How did I know the answer was going to be "Get a new program?"
I was probably going to do that anyway, but I just wanted to see if I could without doing so. I had no trouble FTPing with IE, but since apparently NOBODY knows how to log me out, I'll do something else. |

oh, some of us know...we just wanted to provide the best possible solution.
Go to the Tools Menu, choose Internet Options... Click the Security tab, click on the Zone you've put the site into (or "Internet" if you haven't), Click the "Custom" button, and scroll all the way to the bottom. Make sure the last option there is the one checked. |

Eh, I did that before. It didn't work.
My guess is that it has something to do with the fact that it's an ftp:// rather than an http:// or https://. But I could be wrong. I downloaded smartFTP. It worked, even though the interface could use a little work in my opinion. So it doesn't matter now, but I'm still curious, does anyone know how else I might get this to work? |

Shouldn't be too hard actually:
Go to file and select login as: then de-select Save password and enter the new name and password for the second site. Press ok, and it will disconnect you from the first and connect you to the second. HTH!

Funny you mention that "fix", heyal256, because tfp actually has a thread related to that very item. Should defintely be stickied in on the links board.
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...hlight=windows That'll fix that problem right up.
