Just bought a barebones and built it up with current hard drives, floppy, CD-ROM, CD-RW etc. Anybody know of a good freeware burning program? During the hard drive transfer I had to reinstall XP and lost my old one. There's no CD for it either becuase when I bought the old PC the burning software came preinstalled. Thanks.

Check out www.snapfiles.com. I'm not sure they will have what you need. Also Windows media player has burning support in XP home and Pro.

Just be careful, it won't tell you if a CD-R has data on it and will actually burn over it (I didn't think that was possible)

both completely free and they have been fully adequate for all of my burning needs to the point where Nero 5.x.whatever (I see no reason personally to upgrade to 6.x.x aside from the AAC encoder) is hardly touched now.
