Wireless LAN help
Hey, I just windows updated and now my wireless lan does not work. I'm using a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router and a Linksys Instant Wireless PC card. I believe this is the problem but i'm not certain and i can't remove it using add/remove programs. Currently my card can "connect" to the router, but no packets are sent. I have also tried to release and renew my IP address to no effect. So anyway, if anyone else has any ideas on how to fix it, feel free. Thanks.
If it helps, system specs are: Sony Vaio 800 mhz duron 128 mb SDRAM 8 mb ATI Rage Mobility |

SW- From the looks of the article it seems to be a problem with the WEP. Try turning any encryption you have on the link off, see if it works then. If it does work, mess with the encryption settings and try and find one that works. Otherwise, be sure to update the firmware on your Wireless LAN card- software should be available from the vendor to do this. I'd update the firmware on the AP as well too.

You may want to try a different channel. I think it uses 6 by default, try switching to 11. This has happened 3 times using the same router(befw11s4) where I lost connection, and somehow the channel was reset to six. You will have to set the channel on the router and in your card properties. Hope this helps.
