FireFox, problems with big images

Here's what's going on. I load up a few image heavy threads, and firefox gets all buggy. I can't even take a screenshot, I had to take a picture of my screen with my camera.
When I switch between tabs, the page stays on the screen until I scroll around, and then it reveals the other page as I scroll.

It's so frustrating. Is this a configuration thing? or is it some kind of bug? IE displays these threads flawlessly.

Everyone says FireFox is so awesome, but I've had nothing but problems with it I figure someone here must have seen this problem before.

Although this is not the answer that you want, have you tried Mozilla? Firefox has not yet reached 1.0 and can be a bit tempremental. I use it, but it seems to be a bit buggier (although lighter weight) than Moz.

It's strange, the main site hasn't had any new content for ages, but there's about 30 of us regulars keeping the forums alive. It's really gone down hill though, lots of spam and childish bickering.

Anyway, I actually tried regular Mozilla first. Had the same problem though. I thought FireBird would fix it.

I'm thinking it's some sort of cache/memory management issue. If I load just one thread at a time it seems to work fine, but two threads open (new tab or window, doesn't matter), and it does what you're seeing in the picture.

I'll probably submit a bug report, but I figured someone here might have experienced the same problem.

I use the fox too, a similar thing happens to me. When I load multiple threads it gets really slow, sometimes it takes 30-40 seconds to respond to the next tab, or to even close a tab.

I started to load nightly builds on some advice I got from a thread I opened here, and the problem has lessened a lot since doing that. I don't know how to make firefox display what build I'm currently using. When I do Help...About... I get Ver. 0.8.0+ which isn't what I'm looking for.

I think the build might be in this string:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040416 Firefox/0.8.0+

That bit after the Gecko/####### but I'm not sure.
I'd ask SecretMethod70, he's a good resource for Firefox info. Search his Firefox threads for a whole lot of info.

You could try to use another build and see what happens for you.

It's a known problem and it's supposed to be fixed in the latest nightlies.

If that doesn't help browse to about:config and go to browser.cache.disk.capacity and change it to something higher.
