bypass passwords
I need to bypass a password. My friend sold me his laptop he got a couple years ago and he forgot the password. Its an IBM Thinkpad running on Windows 2000 Professional. When it boots it goes directly to a bland screen with a padlock in the upper left corner. I got through that and it says press F1 to run bios setup and thats as far as i can get. Is there a way to access msdos and delete the password file or what can i do. ive tried the programs on the internet and i get nothing but html errors. Please help.

You can reset the BIOS password, but not the harddrive one. I go to school at RPI where everyone is issued an IBM laptop. The first thing they say is, "if you set a hard drive password and lose it, you're paying for it to get replaced"
So i think y oure out of luck, sorry dude. |

What is the model of your TP?
If you cannot get your money back from the knuckle head whom forgot the password, and you do not want to spend the $85.00 (minimum) to have the password removed, try this site: http://www.ja.olm.net/unlock/password_recovery.htm
