winxp+router= share drives security?
after much research on the subject of sharing drives/folders between two winxp pro machines and linksys router I am still very confused. Anyone have an tips/how's or suggestions for a secure network? I current use static ips(192.168.1.x) for each machine as I do port forwarding on my router for ftp..etc. Not sure if I can just share the drives by right click on each drive and choosing the sharing option under winxp, or go with mapping the drives using file-printer sharing or netbeui. read the usually sites like practicallynetworked.etc but all seem to have different thoughts. any ideas for a person who does not want the world to see my many folders of hardcore pictures of sunsets, wild flowers and my oooh so scandlous family reunion video! sorry if the topic has been done to death.....and back again.

As long as you don't forward the ports for NetBIOS (135,137,138,139 TCP/UDP) to either of the computers, you should be free to share the drives/folders on the two computers without worrying about if other people can see them.
The only way outsiders can get access to services on one of your computers is if you specifically forward the ports through the router to one of the computers. If you don't do that, you're fine.
