Bluetooth Caller ID Programs?
So a while back I gave the forum a good bluetooth explanation
Linky Now I'm hoping someone can help me in search of a bluetooth program for the PC. I'm looking for a program similar to BluePhoneMenu for OSX/Mac that displays caller ID on your bluetooth enabled computers screen when someone calls your Cellular phone. BluePhoneMenu integrates tightly in OSX and I was hoping something for the PC existed that does something similar like display Caller ID in the task bar in 2000 or XP. Supporting multipule cells and keeping a log of calls are plus's. Google, Freshmeat, Sourceforge, download.com, and bluetooth.com have all lead me to dead ends. Does anyone know of a similar program for PC's to use bluetooth to show caller ID on screen?

I'm not sure this is exactly what you are looking for, but it shows in the features that it has caller id logs and such. I did a quick google search for it and this is what it came up with.
Phone King The GUI doesn't look that great, but its workable. If anyone finds anything similar/bluetooth related programs that they know of, please post them. I'm pretty interested in them aswell. |

Thanks for the link.
What i'm looking for though is a program for windows 2000/XP desktop that displays the caller ID when someone calls your cell phone. There are programs for the palm and pocket PC built right in to the PDA OS's that do this. OSX provides support for this through ISync when the program i cited in my first post is installed. Even *nix can do it with some tweaking of the BTStack drivers over at sourceforge. The Windows desktop OS is the only OS that has no programs for displaying caller ID on screen from a bluetooth phone paired with the computer. I guess since OSX computers have Bluetooth support since Apple was an early adopter this is natural. Same goes for Palms early adoption of Bluetooth. I suspect that since MS doesn't provide OS based drivers for Bluetooth and hasn't said much about this communication standard, no one has seen a demand to write such a program. Sony-Erricson and Nokia both make prgrams to install for their BT phones that do everything from caller ID to remote dialing, but these programs are hardly universal or standard based. These programs are more aimed at the phones other features like uploading wallpapers to the phone and making your own ringtones. The BT support is an after thought and often reported to cause system crashes. What would be really great is a lightweight program that uses the standard BT profiles and BT cell phone drivers to just allow basic phone interaction and snyc'ing that would integrate with the Windows shell and outlook similar to the OSX program I cited existed. It's definitly a programing oppertunity for someone, but I guess demand and critical mass of Bluetooth enabled devices hasn't occured yet to spur development.
