Codec problem with a movie

I downloaded a movie, it is a .avi. It isnt a new movie, so i dont belive it is ripped with anything really really new that might be causing problems with my software. I have tried using window's media player 9.0, fully updated, realplayer also up todate, and the divix player that came with my divx codec, which was able to play it but without soud. The people i downloaded it from all tell if works fine on there computer. I have divx codec 5.0.3, from divx.com or whatever it is. I have two versions of this movie, and i am hoping someone here can give me some advice as what i need to get this movie to work.

speaking of codecs... I downloaded a package called the NIMOcodecs. It seems to have alot of the necessary odd codecs that people don't have.

nimo is a risky codec pack...it can hose your WMP...use ffdshow for the video codecs and google the audio ones
