linux Suse install
k well tryin to install linux the first time.. tryin suse.. basically it goes thru the first bit fine.. then it goes into the installation settings.. then goes thru mode.. keyboard layout.. mouse.. partioning.. then it holds up there for a LONG ass time.. mouse just keeps twirlin..
system is an old HP 433mhz celeron 64mb ram 8gb hdd just wonderin what the hold up is.. i didnt think it would take 2 hours to partition a 8gb hdd.. |
fuck the partitioning.. just formatting then installing the thing from scratch
|
If R3d's post isn't an option get yourself a partitioner like Partition Magic and make the partitions from Windows if Windows is on the PC. If not yeah I would just make it dedicated. On a system like that give yourself at least a 1GB swap file since your RAM is so low.

k well so far i've formatted the hdd.. but when it starts to load up the modules it says installation error.. anyone know what i need to fix that?
|
alright.. im totally lost on this.. formatted the hdd and tried to install.. but i cant.. it wont even let me change any of the installation options from YAST.. im not sure what to do.. any help would be great.. thx
btw.. this is SuSE 9.0 Pro |
Unfortunately, I've never done a proper SuSE install to be able to say what to do. If you want to change the options you may have to tell it you want to do a "Manual" install or something along those lines.
If you get a specific error message, defintely pop it into google.. see what comes up. Also, SuSE 9.1 is out. You could try that (as they'll have things like an updated/better installer and system). |
