I'm looking for a simple program that allows you to cut scenes out of mpegs, preferably for free

Anybody know of any programs like this?

I'd like to be the first to say VirtualDub. Very powerful but can be a bugger to use until you get used to it (check the compression settings, ideally leave at 'direct stream copy' unless you want to fiddle with it).

And it's free...

v-dub doesn't save as mpeg...only AVIs. You want Tmpgenc.
