First question: is it performance lag, or actual Internet connection lag? Like, is it worse in cities or really graphical places, or is it a constant connection lag?
If it's a connection lag, I'd say it's 90% something to do with a router port problem. Are you on a router with the DSL? If it's graphical lag, then I'd suggest upping your RAM. I used to have 768 MB of RAM, but I recently had to give the borrowed 256 MB back, so now I have 512 MB. You wouldn't believe the difference between 512 MB and 768 MB. I'm not kidding when I say that from 512 MB to 768 MB almost doubles the performance of some games. Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam's level loading goes 100% faster with just 256 MB more. -Lasereth

1 gig should do you fine, but with todays prices on ram get as much as you can fit. Ram is your friend
